University of Minnesota, Rochester (UMR) was established in 2006 and is located in Rochester, Minnesota. It is the fifth coordinate campus of the University of Minnesota system. UMR admitted its first freshman class in fall 2009 into a single undergraduate major, a bachelor of science in health sciences (BSHS). There are currently three SCALE-UP classrooms at UMR. Each can accommodate a total of 42 students and consists of a âspokeâ arrangement where there are six rectangular tables with 7 students at each table. This design facilitates interactions among the students and also allows them to use their laptops. Plans are underway to build larger classrooms in fall 2011. All classes at UMinn-Rochester are being taught in Active Learning Classrooms.
