We developed over 100 activities for use in the general chemistry sequence at North Carolina State University. Activities included range from totally conceptual to algorithmic in nature. The types of activities have been classified as probes (a way to see what the students are seeing or learning about the material), investigative (where students manipulate the equipment and determine a chemical concept by themselves) or demonstration (where the instructor will do the activity for the student).
